The solemn season of Lent will be starting on Ash Wednesday, 17th February. Service arrangements tbc. As in previous years, we will be offering Lent groups. These will be meeting by Zoom.

  • Tuesdays 7.30-8.30pm – five weeks, starting on February 23rd
  • Wednesdays 11.30am-12.30pm – five weeks, starting on February 24th

Participants can move between groups from week to week if this suits their commitments.

The groups will be reflecting on Gordon Giles’ book, At Home in Lent. It has a short entry for each day of the season, springboarding from household objects such as hats, fridges, curtains, to major spiritual themes. Despite its timely title, the book was written before coronavirus! The sessions will end with some reflective music, kindly produced by some of our music scholars.

If you would like to attend please:

  • Purchase a copy of the book. It is available in print and digital formats. Some have been having trouble getting hold of a printed copy. Don’t go through Amazon; copies are available through Abebooks, Waterstones online, and St Andrew’s Bookshop, Great Missenden.
  • Let Bronwen Parr that you would like to attend so we have an idea of numbers: bronwenparr@hotmail.com Please also let Bronwen know if you have a full Zoom package and would be prepared to ‘host’ some of the sessions.
  • Start reading daily on Ash Wednesday, down to the date of your first group.
