SERVICES OF COMMEMORATION AND THANKSGIVING

4.30pm, repeated at 6.30pm, All Saints Sunday

1st November 2020, St Michaels church AL3 4SL

Like many churches, we hold a special annual service to commemorate and give thanks for the lives of loved ones who have died. Arrangements are inevitably a little different this year as we seek to provide onsite worship with spatial distancing between bubbles. (A full list of our corona-precautions can be found on our Regular Services webpage.) Mindful of the significance of this service to many people and the restrictions on numbers, this year we will be running two identical services, the first at 4.30pm, the second at 6.30pm. If you wish to attend, we ask that you book a place via this Doodle Poll [click here]: before midday on 1stt November. The Doodle is very user-friendly, but if you experience any issues, please contact the Parish Office.

The service includes readings, prayers and music. During the service our loved ones are remembered by name, and there is an opportunity to light a candle in their memory. If you would like one or more loved ones remembered by name, please email the Christian and Surname(s) to Georgie in the Parish Office before 29th October. Many attendees also like to bring a flower which can be laid at the altar during the service.

Unlike recent years, we will be unable to offer refreshments after the services. However, members of the parish’s Bereavement Support Team will be on hand should you wish someone to pray with you privately, or to speak with you in confidence.

If you are unable to attend these services, why not light a candle in your window during the afternoon/evening and pray in solidarity with those who will be in church? Or if you don’t want to join the service why not pop into St Michael’s between 12noon and 3pm and spend some quiet time in prayer – or at another time earlier in the week when there is even greater flexibility?
