The Choir
St Michaels has a strong musical tradition and its music has been led by Richard Bond for many years.

The Children's Choir
The Children's choir was formed in September 2009 and has around 20 members, aged 6 and upwards. As the choir is new, all members are learning together. They meet weekly from 6.30 - 7.30pm on Friday evenings.
The aim is to teach vocal technique and music theory to the children and to encourage teamwork through regular performances. The children sing at around two to three services per term. The repertoire is primarily sacred music but they also sing modern music and the evening often finishes up with the choir members singing along to an ABBA track!
New members are always welcome.
The Adult Choir
The Adult Choir sings weekly on Sunday morning and also sings at the monthly Matins (2nd Sunday of the month) and Evensong (4th Sunday of the month) services. There is a smaller 'core' membership that sings weekly and there is an extended choir that sings at Evensong. At the 9.30am service the choir leads the hymns and sings a short anthem during communion. The other services provide an opportunity for a wider repertoire and good use is made of the extended choir to sing some exciting and challenging music at the monthly Evensong. Choir practice is on Friday evenings at 7.45pm (if you are early you might hear the last strains of ABBA from the preceding children's practice).
Membership and commitment is relatively relaxed; members can commit as much or as little as they are able. New members are always welcome so please make contact if you are interested - whatever your standard - from complete novice to the voice of an angel!. There are also a few members who are parents of children in the children's choir!
Other Music
St Michaels is a home to other musical events, often in conjunction with the Friends of St Michaels Church. Recent events included a Christmas concert put on by members of local operatic societies and a performance of Stainer's Crucifixion by an extended church choir with guests.
